Pietro (Peter) J. Azzari
Peter J. Azzari, 87, of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Born in Clairton on June 23, 1930, he was a son of the late Emidio and Corinda (Viola) Azzari.
He married Margaret Benish in 1955. They celebrated their 62 years together this past June.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He proudly served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paulinus Church in Clairton for 35 years. Pete was a good natured man and his laughter could fill the room. He enjoyed entertaining the young and old by marching in parades as a clown and riding the fire truck as Santa Claus. He was also a school bus driver for TJ and Clairton High Schools. He had fond memories of taking the students on ski trips, white water rafting excursions and to Three Rivers Stadium for Steeler games. He often dreamed of opening his own pizza shop and naming it Pete's Pizza. Pete was a Lithograph Operator for many years for Continental Can. He was a lifetime member of the Jefferson Boro Volunteer Fire Department, having joined in 1956. Pete was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and Yankee Doodle Dandy singing group in Clairton. He was a member of Jefferson Boro Lions Club, having served as a past president.
Along with his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his 4 daughters: Tina (Mike) Quinn of Sutersville; Corrine (Carl) Hancock of Elizabeth; Marcia (Fred) Bercik of Charleroi; and Annette Azzari of Peters Township. His Grandchildren; Christopher Quinn; Brandon (Emily) Quinn; Kayla (Tim) Snyder; Marissa (Colby) Scullion; Kirstie Moore; Tyler Bercik. Great Grandchildren; Olive and Cole Quinn.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clement Azzari and his sister Edie Pavlick.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 7th from 6-8pm and Monday, January 8th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9th, at 10am at Holy Spirit Church in West Mifflin. Entombment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
